Project Name: Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center
Project Type: Government
Project Description:
At 216,000 square feet, the renovated North Wing (formerly East Wing) of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center will accommodate 1,205 10 x 10 booths, seat 5,400 patrons and include high ceilings, excellent lighting, utility floor ports and broadband and high-speed connectivity capabilities. The renovation will also include a Grand Lobby with 35,000 square feet of pre-function space. The facility, which is the 6th largest exposition center in the United States based on total square feet, was originally constructed in 1956.
Hussung Mechanical installed four 115,000 CFM custom built rooftop air handling units which serve the 216,000 sq ft exhibit hall space, one 65,000 CFM custom indoor air handling unit to provide conditioned air to the 35,000 sq ft Grand Lobby, six 65,000 custom indoor air handling units to serve meeting rooms, support areas, auxiliary rooms and conference rooms, new heating water pumps, heat exchangers, plumbing to nearly 250 concessionaire floor-ports, new domestic water service, and new restroom facilities. Hussung Mechanical’s innovative approach in pre-fabrication methods allowed us to rough-in nearly 25,000 feet of underground copper compressed air and domestic water lines to 250 floor port outlets in half the time that was allotted for Hussung Mechanical in the project schedule. Constructed on a fast-track schedule, the project was completed in 21-months utilizing 30 plumbers and 18 pipe fitters.
